WHO IS MARK BUSTOS?

Salon Owner, Silver Vine Room, Summit, NJ >> HairStylist at Ammon Carver Studio, NYC >> Founder of the #BeAwesomeToSomebody Movement

At the young age of 14, Mark Bustos discovered the power of human interaction through his passion for cutting hair. That's why he has dedicated the last two decades of his life to not only developing and honing his craft, but also sharing his talents with everyone.

He has clients all over the globe, starting with his own brothers and cousins, to a star-studded clientele like fashion designer, Phillip Lim, NASCAR Driver, Jeff Gordon while also servicing 8-year old Isabella, living on the streets in the Philippines.

While Mark travels to different cities representing the charity, he has also earned himself a styling chair in some of the most prestigious salons in America, including Oribe Salon in South Beach, Miami, and RamirezTran Salon in Beverly Hills, CA, and Ammon Carver Studio in NYC, a salon that this year alone was nominated for the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) in five different categories.

In October 2017, Mark has been awarded for his Humanitarian efforts at the highly acclaimed Intercoiffure Gala and nominated as Educator of the year at the 2017 Stylist Choice Awards. In 2018, Mark was most recently honored as Inspirational Artist of the Year at the first Annual Licensed to Create Awards with Cosmoprof.  In addition to his accolades in the beauty industry, he also attained a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Kean University.

As the founder of the #BeAwesomeToSomebody Charity/Movement, Mark has humbly given a new meaning to being compassionate by giving free haircuts to the homeless every Sunday, all around the world. Not only has this inspired family, friends, hairstylists and strangers all over the world to help those in need, Mark is able to meet new people and be moved by their stories simply by doing what he loves.

Mark teaches the world about the art of giving back, which is why his story has been featured in prestigious outlets including The New York Times, CNN, ABC World News, Forbes, Huffington Post, GQ, Details Magazine, Vanity Fair, People Magazine, and many more. The #BeAwesomeToSomebody Movement has also received international acclaim in several publications across Europe and Asia, notably the Philippines, which is both where his family is from and where the #BeAwesomeToSomebody Movement was born.
